On October 1st, we started Halloween month with some matching pajamas. We kept our tradition of going to the Calgary Farmyard to pick out our pumpkins. We bought 4 this time - a couple big ones and a couple smaller ones. We, of course, played there for a while as well and it was such a gorgeous, sunny day. We fed the animals, jumped on the jumping pillows, and went down slides, including the tube slide. It was a great time!
The Sunday before Halloween we carved our pumpkins with the Bennetts. We missed the last couple of years doing it together because of sickness, but this year we were all healthy enough to get together! We went to their house this time and carved lots of pumpkins, played together, and ate tacos. The best part is always lighting the pumpkins and seeing all the reactions.
Leo had a Halloween event at his school, so I took all the kids there myself because Jeff wasn't feeling well. There were activities in each room and the favorites were the trick or treating room and the ball pit and swing room. Bentley and Deacon had a Halloween dance at their school. We went together as a family that time and dressed up as a basketball crew. The 3 boys were basketball players, Jeff was the net, I was the referee, and Bentley was the cheerleader. It worked out really well! We took some photos outside of our family costume before we went to the school. The kids had a good time with their friends playing games, crafting, and eating treats, but there wasn't much of a dance. Jeff and I found some friends to talk to while the kids ran around and Boston would come back and forth to me.
Bentley and Leo both went to birthday parties. Bentley went to Alizah's party and Leo went to Gus's party. Bentley also painted pumpkins for one of her activity days.
I went to Witches Night Out and had a lot of fun. I arranged a dinner at Earls with some ladies first, and then went to Laura Dunford's dance party at the church. We all dressed up as witches, and I ended up staying quite a while. It was a good time!
On Halloween day I went to Bentley and Deacon's school to watch the parade, which is always a lot of fun. I love seeing the kids walk around the gym in their costumes! They had a flash mob to the song Thriller and that was really cute too. Boston was a little hard to take there, but he made it. That night we trick or treated with the Locking's, Whiteley's, and Hope was dropped off as well. We went a good ways, got way too much candy and then headed home. The kids were really fast this year. Boston stayed in the stroller until he got cold. It was fairly warm this year, though, so that was nice! After sorting candy and kids getting picked up, we finally all crashed. Having school the next day is always weird, but I'm always relieved when Halloween is over. I'll say every year that it is not my favorite holiday! I have fun with it, but I'm always so excited when I can start thinking about Christmas!
