Baby on the way!

Jeff and I are happy to announce that we are expecting a baby on January 23rd, 2014. We are so excited to be parents! We've had to hold this news in for a while, but now that I am through the first trimester we are glad to finally be able to let everyone know. We told our families earlier by giving our Dad's a Father's Day card from our new baby...such a blast to see their reactions, although Don had been up all night and day doing flood work so he fell asleep right after the news. We don't take it personally! We got some photos taken of just me and Jeff, and some fun ones to announce our pregnancy. I've been wanting updated photos of us anyway, so it worked out well that we could also take a few announcement ones! Somehow the planner in me made this baby come just when I wanted...although Jeff was hoping for a few more months I think!!
I told my boss the other day that I was pregnant and she was quite surprised because I've been working as normal and even though I've been feeling a little nauseous, I think I've done a good job of hiding it at work. She was very happy for me though, but sad that I will be leaving for maternity leave. I think the hardest part of the first trimester is how tired I feel all the time. I usually keep a very clean house and cook dinner each day, but I have been having trouble doing anything besides working and sleeping lately, so I feel pretty bad about that. Poor Jeff doesn't get many dinners from me anymore. I've tried making a few meals but start feeling sick each time so I gave up on that for a while, and am just starting to get back into it.
Anyways, that's our big news and we are nervous of course, but also very excited! Jeff and I each have pregnancy apps on our phones that tell us what is happening to me and the baby each week. It's so fun when Jeff asks me about it and we look together to see what size our baby is, which is right now the size of a tangerine! I had to have an ultrasound to see how far along I was so I told Jeff  to come and it was a really cool experience. It's so hard to believe that there's actually a baby inside of me until we can see it and hear it's heartbeat! Anyways, here's some of our photos...

Summer 2013 Begins

It's about time I catch up on my blog again. Jeff and I can't believe it's already summer time! We are very excited to head to our cabins in Montana later in the month, but also to spend our weekends camping and Jeff can't wait for all the dirt biking!
I finished my piano year off with a recital that I thought would be fun for the kids and decided to make it my last. I've had such a great time teaching the kids and I will miss them very much, but now that I work full time I was too exhausted doing both. So I thought I better post a picture of some of my adorable students at the recital, although not all of them could make it.

They brought me some wonderful gifts and sad cards telling me they wanted me to be their teacher again...almost made me reconsider! I made some prizes for each of them including "Best Practicer," and "Fun Lesson" awards. We had a good time and maybe one day I will go back to teaching again.

Scott and Kellie had baby #2, Emri Lou Ady. Jeff and I got to visit her in the hospital and were shocked at how adorable this little girl was with SO much hair! I love holding this cutie pie and am so excited for the Ady family to finally have a girl!!

Well the big piece of news in Calgary is the record breaking floods (which I'm a little late blogging about). I never thought there would be such a disaster in my own city but on June 20th, after days of rain, Calgary was flooding and declared a state of emergency. 100 000 people evacuated from their homes. Luckily my family was all safe, but it was crazy to see the damage all around us. High River was hit the hardest and houses were ruined. Salt Lake City has sent loads of supplies and the "Mormon Helping Hands" are doing great things in the cleanup of the town. Jeff has gone a few times to help out in High River with cleaning out basements that have been drenched in sewage water. Here are a couple of photos of the flood in Calgary found on the internet.

Sarah came to town a couple of weeks ago and we went for pedicures which was so much fun! My second cousins, Yasmin and Lauren, also came to town from England. We went to a Stampede breakfast and I look forward to seeing them at the cabin as well!
