School Starts

When school is starting up again for everyone, all it means for me is that Bentley goes to preschool for 3 hours, 3 times a week. But it is at least something! I feel like I can start to make a routine again and kind of know what to expect more each day. I also put her in hip hop and swimming this year. She has only been to one hip hop class so far but absolutely loved it and keeps asking to go back! She also is surprising brave in her swimming class these days. She loves to look at me on the sidelines and dunk her face in the water now...I guess the lessons are working? She is also enjoying preschool. While she might not always be excited to go for some reason, she is always so happy to tell me everything she did and learned that day! Deacon feels a little left out whenever we drop Bentley off somewhere and he can't go in...but next year that will be different. Also, we still have play school at our house every Thursday where we focus more on the little kids, so that is something fun for Deacon. Leo is finally napping and sleeping so well, so life is pretty good. Oh...except for the time I tried to potty train Deacon. It was a mighty failure! Either Deacon wasn't ready, or I wasn't ready but I felt pretty emotional about the fact that I put so much effort into it and it didn't work out. I put him back in diapers and we will try again in a few more months or something.

Summer End

After our vacation at the cabins, it seemed like summer ended so quickly. The air was really smoky from forest fires, which made it a lot cooler, and Fall came really fast this year! So we went to Granary Road a few more times. Melissa was visiting Calgary so we went together with our kids and it was so fun to see her again. We also went with the Bennett's again!

One weekend we decided to go to Drumheller as a family. Jeff had gotten some tickets for the Tyrell Museum from an auction so we wanted to use them. We drove out in the morning and got there just before the museum opened. We went through the whole thing in just over an hour, we couldn't believe it! Last time it took all day, but we beat the crowds so it was a lot nicer this time. Deacon was in absolute dinosaur heaven, as it's one of his new obsessions ever since we introduced him to "the land before time" movie. We came out of the museum and noticed a huge line up to get in and were so excited we came when we did! Then we went to BP's for lunch and, once again, it was completely empty when we arrived and packed when we left. We decided we needed to do at least one more thing in Drumheller before we left so we climbed up the 86ft World's Largest Dinosaur. I was a little worried about hauling all 3 kids up there, but it's really not that many steps. The kids thought it was so cool being inside a huge dinosaur and looking out of it's mouth at the top! It was totally worth it. They also had a blast the entire day spotting dinosaurs all around the town. It was seriously such a fun day! Leo behaved so well for us and everything was so enjoyable. We played at the park before we left to drive back home.

Jeff had his annual work BBQ  that we enjoyed going to. Bentley had fun playing with Emri in the bouncy castles and Deacon got his face painted for the first time ever. A little train!

Other than that, we didn't do a whole lot for the rest of the summer. I started looking forward to preschool and other things starting up for Bentley so we could have a resemblance of a routine again!

Family Photos 2018

I'm so in love our family photos this year! We had Tanis take them, as usual, and they turned out beautifully. The kids were all in such happy moods and everything worked out well. We did them over by Ann and Sandy Conservation Area. It was really foggy and smoky from the forest fires, but the pictures still turned out great!

Bentley is a really good kid! It's amazing how fast she's growing up. She really loves to learn and she copies a lot of the things I do. She loves church and FHE and loves to pretend to conduct primary at home. She uses Deacon and has a pretend prayer, song, birthdays, etc. Sometimes I wonder if she listens to anything I or her teachers say, and then I see her replaying it all! She is a smart cookie and very good at persuasion as well. She loves to clean with me too! She's also a very good saver...almost every time she gets a treat, she doesn't eat it. Instead, she brings it home and puts it in her "stash," which is in the bathroom cupboard so Deacon can't reach it. She loves to show this stash to anyone who will come look at it, and tells me she will share it with her friends when they come over. She has a heart of gold. She also finds joy in other peoples successes. When Deacon was trying to be potty trained, I told him he would get a little train if he goes poop in the potty or keeps his bed dry at night. When he got a train, Bentley was probably more excited then he was! I love this girl so much and sometimes can't believe how blessed I am to have her!

Deacon is a ball of energy and spunk. He finds joy in almost anything! He has the best laugh and really loves to laugh often. He loves to climb on anything he can find and jump off, even if it's pretty high up. He hurts himself 20 times a day, but only hurts for a second and then says, "little owie, just a little owie" and moves on. Or he might say "no hurt, no hurt." He sure is tough. And strong! He shocks me at the heavy things he carries up and down the stairs. He is also the best eater. He loves almost every kind of food! His new obsession is dinosaurs and he could probably watch "the land before time" all day long. Trains are another obsession of his, and he can sit and play with little trains on a track for a solid 30 minutes or more. He also loves to cuddle and give hugs constantly. He charms most everyone he sees, and we sure can't imagine what life would be like without him!

Leo is becoming a really happy little guy! (Although he clearly didn't want to smile for the camera!) He was a hard baby, but now that he is eating solid foods and playing with toys he is a lot easier. He loves to roll around on the floor and make his way across the room. He is also sleeping most the night (usually just wakes up once to eat), and napping a lot longer. I am really really enjoying him right now! And obviously I give him a million kisses every day because who could resist those cheeks?! We love our little Leo!

Jeff and I are so lucky to have such happy and healthy kids. I am also really lucky to have Jeff! He is an amazing husband. He works so hard to support us financially and is also always there for me and the kids when we need him. He also lost 30 lbs in the last few months, through all of our craziness with 3 kids, so that really shows how amazing he is! I love this little family of mine and even though right now is tough for me...toddlers and babies are hard!...I am so happy and positive about the future!
