Deacon's Sporty 8th Birthday Party

Two days after Bentley's party we had Deacon's birthday party! It was a big year for him too, turning the big 8 and getting ready to be baptized. Deacon has been loving everything about basketball, so all he wanted to do was play ball. We decided to book the church gym and play a few different things.
We had a basketball game, and Bentley and Abby were the scorekeepers. We had a score board and everything. We also brought a bunch of balls for dodgeball, which was actually a lot of fun. Jeff took a turn playing and getting all the little boys out! They loved it. We brought some nerf guns as well for them to go for it at the end (but made sure we stayed in the gym!). Jeff also grabbed his big speaker from work so we could play music. The boys loved listening to a lot of Imagine Dragons as they played. We made hot dogs and had some fruit, meat and cheese platters, and some Gatorade. Deacon also wanted a pinata, so we did that too. I made a chocolate cake with different sports balls on it and Booker at the top, but it was really hard to bring from home. Bentley was holding it on the way to the church, and ended up with some on her pants. It was a bit of a mess, but still tasted great. Probably should've decorated it at the church though! Deacon has a pretty good group of friends and everyone had a lot of fun. He loved all of his presents as well.
Deacon is an awesome kid! He is the first one to come give me a hug, thank me for everything, and make sure everyone is okay. His heart is pure gold. He's super chill and willing to try everything. He is naturally really athletic and basketball is at the top of his list, although he would play any and every sport. He also does karate and soccer, and plays piano really well too. I only ever hear great things from his teachers, so he is excelling in school. He is such a good friend to others and sincerely loves the gospel. He is so excited to be baptized next month! We sure love our Deacon.
