June

June started out with a couple of movies. Bentley and I went to "The Little Mermaid" with some friends and their daughters and it was a blast! Such a good movie and so fun to all be together. It was with Lena, Jennie, and Emily. We also went to the new Spiderman movie for Jeff's work. We didn't realize it was gonna be so long and decided to take Boston and hope he'd last a while with his popcorn and treats. He did pretty well but couldn't make it for the almost 3 hour movie! I took him walking around the mall for awhile. Deacon was probably the only one that liked the movie but it was still fun to get out!

Bentley and Deacon had their piano recital at RDL, because their piano teacher is actually a teacher from the school, Mrs. Sheen. Deacon did really well this year starting out. He actually picked it up really quickly and we all love how he nods his head to the beat of the music, so cute! He played 3 songs at the recital and everyone was very impressed with how well he could play for being so young. Bentley took piano and voice lessons this year. It's been a great experience for her to get used to singing. One of the songs I picked for her to sing was "Gethsemane." That ended up being the one she learned the best and sang for her recital, as I accompanied her. I also asked Leticia Christensen if her daughter, Alizah, might want to sing that song with Bentley in church and she agreed. She arranged the music for them and helped them practice and it was so cute to watch in church! Bentley was very nervous but did such a great job, and we were all so proud of her. She also played 2 piano songs for the recital. Piano practicing is always a struggle for these two, but we keep pushing them and it's worth it!

Leo had the best year at school! His teacher, Ms. Kristine, was absolutely wonderful and he was sad to be finished. Near the end of the year, there was a day for parents to come in and do all the things with their kids. Leo always loves showing me everything and I had such a good time with him! They even showed a little video with pictures of the kids from the year. They also had a Western day at school, and I have many pictures the teacher sent me throughout the year. For the last day, I made a little "super teacher" card for Leo to give to Ms. Kristine and he loved that.
We had trouble deciding where to send him for Kindergarten in the Fall, but decided it was best to keep him at Renfrew for one more year. He loves it there and there is a lot more help there with his learning plans than there would be anywhere else. He had a little interview with the Kindergarten teacher at RDL, Mrs. Ozimko, and she agreed. She even said that if he wanted to Kindergarten again the following year at RDL that he could do that. We will see how he grows and learns this year and then decide! There is nothing wrong with Leo, no diagnosis, besides the fact that a lot of his learning tests came back with him in the 1 percentile. He also has a slower processing speed. He might just need more time!
I also got Leo a bike and took off the pedals, so now he can use it like a strider bike to learn balance. I'm determined to get him riding a bike this year! Lastly, Leo continues to be very helpful in the kitchen. He can peel and chop a carrot pretty well!

School ended for Bentley and Deacon and they were very excited! On the last day of school, which was a half day, they got to have a playdate with their besties. Tammy took them for me and they got to play with Violet and Spencer at their house for a while. She also took some photos for me! They both did so well this year and really loved their teachers. Mrs. LJ was the best and we always love Mrs. Felske.
There was a talent show at RDL and both Bentley and Deacon tried out and made it. Bentley put together a dance with a few friends (which I helped with), and Deacon decided to play a piano song. I was really proud of both of them, as I could tell they were really nervous! My heart leapt as I watched them perform. What better thing to do when you're young than have fun showing off your talents and just going for it. I'm so proud of my kids for how brave they are and how well they did at school this year. Their grades were amazing!

Speaking of dance, Bentley had her dance recital and it was the cutest thing ever! I was so nervous for her having to remember the choreography to three different dances, but she did so amazing! I was really proud of her dancing and she had a really good time with Violet and Penny. She said she was busy backstage as she changed from outfit to outfit and had her hair done differently, so she was definitely never bored like last year. Jocelyn's family was in town so Brooke came to watch, along with my parents, Jeff, me, and Deacon. We gave her roses at the end as well and it was a perfect day.

Boston continues to be my little sidekick and is growing up all too fast. He is way too smart for his own good. He talks in full sentences perfectly, knows exactly what is going on at all times, never misses a thing, and especially loves to play at the playground after the kids are done school with his friend Bayden. He is hilarious, adorable, and frustratingly strong willed sometimes! One day he will rule the world.
