Deacon's 4th Birthday Party

This year, just because of scheduling, we had Deacon's birthday party first. Even though he is 2 days after Bentley. In preschool he had been learning all about sea animals and has become obsessed with sharks. So, I thought that would be the perfect theme for him and swimming would be the perfect activity! I really don't like going to big pools with lifeguards that tell you to be within arms reach of your 7 year old, so I booked a party room at the Wingate hotel and we got full access to our room and the pool for 4 hours. Other guests of the hotel could've come to use the pool, but we got lucky and had the pool to ourselves! It had a perfect water slide, a good sized pool, and a hot tub. We invited some family and friends, and the parents of the kids stayed and hung out. It was a lot of fun for everyone!
We swam for 2 hours, then took a break to eat pizza and cake, and open presents in the party room. I found the cutest shark robe for Deacon to wear during that time and he loved it! He also loved helping me make a cake before hand. The night before I cooked 3 layers of cakes with different colors of blue. That morning I stacked them, iced it with different shades of blue, and Deacon put the shark and shark fins on the top (with a little help). Obviously I'm not a baker, but it turned out really quite cute. Instead of food coloring I used these gels that seem to make the colors more vibrant. I also brought some shark plates, napkins, and cups because it just made it more fun, and he was so excited about everything! After that we headed back to the pool to swim for another hour. They probably could've stayed all day! When the time was up, I really enjoyed taking our belongings and leaving the mess behind! We also put together some cute treat bags for everyone including a shark national geographic book, shark gummy candies, tattoos, bubbles, and shark bath squirt toys.

Deacon is such a sweet boy. He always tells me and Jeff that he loves us and loves to give hugs and cuddle. He also has this wild side and loves to wrestle, climb, and jump off of things. He is very naturally athletic and has always been a fast learner when it comes to physical things. He loves to be independent in getting himself dressed, ready to go outside, and also loves to figure out how things work. He loves animals and national geographic. He had a slow start learning to talk but is really picking it up this year and can have a very full conversation with a stranger and they could understand most of it now. He is a chatterbox and is really enjoying preschool at Renfrew. He finds everything about life so exciting and, although it can be annoying sometimes when we're trying to get somewhere, I love that we can go for a walk and he can find entertainment in a rock. He doesn't need a lot. Small things make him happy. He is the best eater and sleeper. I love this boy so much and can't believe he is 4!
