The kids finished off the last bit of school and were so excited for summer to start! They were sad to be leaving their friends and teachers of course, but looking forward to what fun was to come.
Leo had a day where parents were allowed to come visit the school, see their class and watch them do some fun activities. It was a Western theme. When I arrived, Leo ran over to me and gave me a big hug! He proceeded to show me everything fun to do. He loved having me there, and it was the cutest thing! We played outside with some western things, and then went inside to have pancakes and ice cream for snack, show me the classroom, and have circle time. He sure loved the dancing part of it. He showed me his best friend, Ryder, and I'll never forget how often he would always mention Ryder at home. It will be sad if we don't see him next year! Leo's school also had "family day" on a Saturday, so all of us, including Jeff went to that. They had face paint, bubbles, soccer, snacks, crafts and more. We always enjoy that! Lastly, Leo had a beach day on one of his last days of school. He got to wear his swimsuit and get wet outside, and he absolutely loved it.
Leo's done really well this school year, especially considering he started it out screaming and crying every time the bus came. He learned to love school. His speech and communication has improved a lot, but there is still something that doesn't seem right to me. He doesn't seem to understand lots of things, he screams and goes crazy when things aren't perfectly his way, he's very repetitive, and things along those lines, so we are going to get a few more tests done in the Fall!
Deacon started soccer in the Spring and really enjoyed it! He played on a team with Bryce and made lots of other friends as well. It was a really close knit team, and they even had a party at Boston Pizza at the end of the season. They won most their games, Deacon would often score goals, and he got very good at the game! It was a lot of fun to watch them. He got a medal, and a little trophy at the end.
He loved Kindergarten this year and his teachers loved him too! They had great things to say on his report card. I'm super impressed with Deacon and his ability to never to give up. He is a great reader already, the sweetest boy you'll ever meet, and very outgoing. He makes friends in an instant! This year his close friends were Spencer, TJ, and Joseph. On the last day of school, Tammy (Violet and Spencer's mom) picked up Bentley and Deacon for a playdate and it was really fun for them!
Bentley had a great year of school as well. Her best friend is Violet, and she also loves to hang out with Presley, Jersey, Truett, Penny, and Sienna. Her teachers also had great things to say about her, especially with how great she is at reading. I took a picture of her "Dream" project because it was so cute and funny how she talks about money. Also I enjoyed her project about her hair.
Bentley took gymnastics this year, but stopped before we left for Disneyworld. She also took a Jazz dance class at Revolution Dance with Emri and really enjoyed everything except for the recital. She liked performing on stage, but hated having to wait 3 HOURS for the rest of the performers. Not only did she have to do that once, but there were 2 shows, so she had to do it 2 days in a row! I wasn't very impressed with the studio, but she still had a good enough time that she decided to do dance again next year. This time she will be going to Diversity Dance and will be in 3 classes (jazz, ballet and acro) with Violet. So we'll see how that goes! We did get pictures and a video back from her dance performance, and Bentley loves watching their dance over and over!
She also took piano with Grandpa again this year, and had a little recital. She wasn't very excited about piano, as she hates practicing and making mistakes. She did enjoy writing her own song, though, which was really neat of her Grandpa to do! Since my dad will be on vacation a lot this next year, and then on a mission, I decided to find a new teacher for Bentley and Deacon both for next year.
I always love the end of June when we can pull out our backyard toys and the kids can play in the sand box and jump on the trampoline. Boston loves to be outside, so he is loving the nice weather. He is a great walker now, his first word was "Up", followed closely by "Uh-oh." He also says mom and dad every so often. He is quick and always trying to keep up with his siblings. He is a very happy boy with the best shy smile and laugh.
At the end of June there was a little event in Legacy in the parking lot where lots of stores have just opened up. There was face paint, balloons, free hotwheels, little car races, and judging cool cars. We also bought some shaved ice at the food truck! That was a fun day, followed by a date night with Matt and Emily at Starbelly.
We also took the kids to Boston Pizza one day to celebrate the end of school and all their successes!! Bring on summer!!!
