When I was booking the room there wasn't a ton of choices left, but there was the Polynesian room which looked like Moana to me. The bed looked like a boat, the wall was painted all Hawaiian, and the best part was the bathtub which looked like a mountain and a waterfall where the water came out. To make it more fun for the kids we called it the "Moana room!" Jeff took a Friday off work, so we left late in the afternoon on Thursday Feb.28. The drive went well and when we arrived the kids were so excited! We let them stay up pretty late and we all tried out the bath and then they were also so excited to sleep in bunk beds. Bentley has been asking for bunk beds for a long time so I knew she would love that. She, of course, got the top bunk and Deacon still liked the bottom (and then the potty was readily accessible to him!). The bathroom was too small for Leo's playpen to go in, so we actually just laid him on the floor in the little coat closet and he slept great in there! They also had a princess in the lobby of the hotel that we saw multiple times, and the kids thought that was pretty cool too. She would sing and chat with them lots.
Friday morning we woke up at our normal, early time and headed to the breakfast buffet they have in the hotel. It was SO perfect. It had everything the kids could ever want and omelets for Jeff and I too! We came here both mornings and the kids seriously would just down a huge plate of food. They loved it all so much and kept telling us how great it was. We then headed to Galaxyland, which wasn't open yet because we clearly wake up too early. So we wasted some time in the mall taking pictures and such and then when it opened it was nice to be one of the only people in there. It wasn't very busy at all! We rode lots of rides. I actually loved the little train that goes through tunnels and around the whole place, and we got to take Leo on it too. I took Bentley on the yellow, spinny roller coaster that was way scarier than I thought! She barely reached the height limit and didn't like it, but was a really good sport about it and just said she didn't want to do that again. The kids loved the rides and then we hung out in the play place they also have there so Leo had something to do and the other kids liked that as well.
We took a break for lunch and then headed to the Sea Lion show. We all loved watching that, except Leo. But we passed him back and forth and afterwards we checked out the Sea Life Caverns where they have sea turtles, sharks, snakes, etc. It wasn't very big, but still fun to see, especially because Deacon is obsessed with sharks these days!
After that we went back to the hotel for a little break and for Leo to have a nap. We put on Moana for them to watch in the Moana room and had some snacks. After that we decided to go bowling! They have the cutest bowling alley there for little kids. It's 10 pin, but small balls and smaller lanes, and of course the little ramps they can use if they want. Bentley said bowling was her favorite thing and she continuously asks me to go again. She liked trying to bowl without the ramp and did pretty good. Deacon used the ramp and thought it was really fun too, although he always had to have the blue ball so it took him a while to bowl! Leo lasted pretty long just sitting in the stroller but when he started getting really fussy it was time to go.
After bowling the kids were pretty whiny so instead of going out for dinner we decided to go back to the hotel, order room service for dinner, and take a bath in the waterfall bath. That turned out to be a great plan! They were worn out and went to sleep afterwards pretty good.
The next morning after breakfast we headed to Galaxyland again because there were lots of rides we didn't get to! We bought a 2-day pass which included all the activities we did, so it was nice that we could just go back whenever we wanted. Leo had a little nap in Galaxyland, then we ate lunch and headed to the water park! We started at the little kids pool and it was SO busy. I was feeling a little claustrophobic and Leo was not liking his life jacket or being held. Then we headed over to the splash park and kids area, which turned out to be so much better! The water was really cold but our kids didn't mind and they were laughing at water being splashed in their face, running through the little fountains, and just having the time of their lives, and I was enjoying having no crowd over there. Leo crawled around for a long time exploring the fountains and the water on the ground. There were chairs to lay on and it was great!! Bentley went on one of the waterslides over and over. Then they played in the other kids place, we hottubbed, and left. It was a lot of fun! Obviously we didn't do many of the big slides with our kids, that will be another day when they're older!
Earlier that day we had checked out, packed up, and I hung out in the Disney store with the kids while Jeff ran our stuff to the van. So after swimming we immediately left to go home, as it was already late afternoon. We actually had asked if the room was available for another night because we were having so much fun we didn't want to leave! But sadly all the rooms were booked up. The kids were exhausted so they slept pretty much the whole way home!
We all had so much fun so we decided to make this an annual thing! It's such a perfect winter getaway, and so great for making memories. The kids were happy almost the whole time, and we had a lot of fun together as a family. How did I get so lucky? I just love this little family of mine so so much!!
