Summer Fun

Summer has been filled with so many things already and we haven't even made it to the cabin yet! We are absolutely loving this nice weather and having so many options of things to do. Aunt Sue came to visit so one day we went out to Bragg Creek with her and some other family. We had a picnic and got some ice cream of course!

Pandas came to the zoo and Cindy got us some tickets for an actual "Panda Breakfast." So we went with her and got a delicious breakfast, entertainment, and viewing of the pandas eating bamboo. Deacon was obsessed with the pretend one. They also got some free Panda backpacks and stuffies. It was a good time!

Jeff changed his work schedule so that he works on Saturdays and has Mondays off now. So, one Monday we went as a family to Heritage Park. The kids loved the rides, especially the small Ferris Wheel and the Merry-go round. Without even planning it, we hopped on the train while it rained, and when we got off it was nice and sunny again! We also just walked around, played at the park, and enjoyed the day together. It was a lot of fun! We got Season's Passes, so I have since been back on my own with the kids (which probably wasn't the best idea). We did the rides, had a picnic and went on the wagon horse ride. I came home completely exhausted!

We also got passes to Granary Road, and we have really been enjoying it there! The kids love all the different slides, the animals (goats they can pet), and much more. They especially love going with friends or with Grandma!

We also planned a bike ride around the pond with all the play school kids, played in the pool, and dug out some treasures from a big block of ice (I had fun putting that together!). I am amazed at how fast Deacon has caught on to the Strider bike. He's sure got that thing down!

We've also tried a few different splash parks (Cranston, Okotoks, and Somerset). It always depends on the kids' moods as to how much fun they have there! They love the picnic part, but don't always love to have water dumped on them. At the Okotoks one they have a massive bucket that dumps every so often when it fills up. It hit my usually fearless Deacon pretty hard once, which made him nervous at Splash parks since!

On Canada Day Weekend, Jeff smoked some brisket. He woke up at 6am to get it started, many hours were spent trying to get it perfect, and we didn't even take a picture of the finished product! We invited a bunch of people over and made it a pool party in our backyard. It was such a blast, and the brisket turned out great!

Joce and Jeff and family came to visit from Arizona last week, and it was so fun to see them again! The kids love playing with each other and I have really missed them. Unfortunately Jeff and I got sick that week, but it didn't stop us from having a lot of fun still! We went to the zoo, the lake, Southland Leisure Centre, and some parks together. We went to fish creek for a picnic and then walked to a place where some kids ended up swimming in their clothes. Deacon had to get in of course, so Griffin helped him swim around. It was so nice to be with family and cousins almost every day that week! We will see the Fox's one last time at the cabin tomorrow before they head back home.

Well, Jeff and I are still hanging on to these darn colds, or whatever you call them! We are going on two weeks and still have such sore throats and coughs. That's not supposed to happen in the summertime right?! All I want to do is just enjoy the nice weather! Anyways, we are heading to Ashley lake tomorrow, and praying we get better soon.
Here's a last picture for the post because it's not always sunshine, sometimes there is rain!
